MRC - Half-size build report (2011)
#21
In spite of glue drying as fast as I can apply it (humidity was down to 8% or less), I managed some more progress:

Stairway to lower hull ready for installation.

Stairway to roof installed, pretty sloppy work on my part, I'm sorry to say. :-/

Starboard exhausts installed; port exhausts are also done and installed.

I prepped and installed the fore and aft inner hull supports, and glued the wings down to the hull:

Regarding the stairs (and I wish I'd thought of this sooner), I made two additional parts for each stairway to which the stairs glue, inside their tabs, to shape them correctly. Then the stairs can be glued to the stairwell walls as a unit via the outsides of the same tabs. They should turn out rather more neatly than my "up" stairs did. :-)

I thought about such a part, too.
I just didn't figure out yet how to do it best.
Have You got a photo or a grafic of the part?

The parts marked "PS-012A" and "PS-015A" are the ones. All I did was to copy the white stair profiles from PS-011 and PS-014, move their two straight edges inward by 0.2 mm for clearance, give them a visible outline, and mirror them.

As an aside, on the same page I had to narrow the Hull-033 parts by nearly a millimeter to get them to fit.

Another suggestion: attach the top tabs of the front and rear inner hull parts (Hull-011 and Hull-012) before gluing *anything* to the top deck. Once the tower and cabin wall are on, it's very difficult to get those tabs glued down solidly. I remembered this difficulty from last time, but not soon enough. <G>

I ran into a problem:

[Bild: Image1.jpg]

[Bild: Image3.jpg]

I noticed the mismatch in my reduce parts during assembly, and checked the parts in your .PDF file. Sure enough, there's 1.4 mm difference there (half that in my parts). It wouldn't have been as obvious if I'd aligned the parts on their centerlines, but I'll have to print the corrected Hull-042 and cut off the one I'd already glued down.

Here's how it looks on the model:

[Bild: Img_1299a.jpg]

I've decided to reprint that part along with a couple of other corrected "oops!" parts and simply glue them on over the errors once the rest of the hull is complete.

Progress so far:

Thanks for the hint. Indeed there is a lack of 1,4 mm on the part.
Interestingly the part on my MRC isn't to short. It's a miracle.

I will correct the part, but I think it isn't very important, because it isn't really visible when the model stands on the table.
