MRC - OT Chatter
#1
Rather than clutter the design and build threads with stuff not specific to their topics, I thought it best to start a new thread. :-)

Here are the things that have delayed me in starting a new half-sized MRC build:

A stack of wedding invitations for my wife's friend, done in two days due to her not understanding that it takes time to mail the silly things. She was happy. I got paid. <G>

The Jules Verne "20,000 Leagues under the Sea" 'Nautilus' which I just finished within the last hour.

And something for Easter. <G>

I have card stock, and a new yellow ink cartridge, so I should be able to print some MRC parts tomorrow! :-)

Slight delay of game, but I spent much of the day today arranging the parts:

15 pages at 50% of the designed scale, or about 1:120. :-)

Got all the sheets printed:

Nice Easter Island Easter Eg. Big Grin
I like that!

And You did a good job on the 50% MRC.
I see You even included the interior of the pilot section.
Are those sheets pdf-files?

I'm very curious about the finished model.
What paper weight did You use for the prints?

edit: I just read it in the building threat. Paper has 165 g. That's quite thick for some small details.
Does it work well?

Thank you. I'd be happy to send you a copy; I haven't decided yet whether to add it to my Web site.

Not yet, but they will be. I'm tweaking fit for the smaller scale and fixing transcription errors as I go (my old Illustrator 10 doesn't like your gradients much!). When it's all done, I'll be sure you get a copy.

I scaled all the parts in your .PDF files, though some won't be needed, such as the inner braces for the cabin walls, and I'll drop those from the final file.

I just checked again, and it's actually 163 GSM. The important thing is that it's right at 0.2 mm thick (0.00787 inch) so adjustments are easy.

It works very well for me; I rarely use any other paper for models. The 'Nautilus' build was printed on it as well, and layers of it laminated together to make the 0.5 (three layers = 0.6 mm - close enough!) and 1 mm (five layers) thicknesses the designer called out.

Oh cute. I'd really like to have Your Easter Eg.

If I would've known, I sent You .ai files. Rolleyes

What do You think about putting the half size MRC onto the FlyingGames Disk along with the pictures of the build You made?

Another point is the windows. The inside parts didn't fit very well to my model but I couldn't find the mistake in cunstruction.
In Your build they seem to fit very well. Did You have some problems with these parts?

Do I have a current e-mail address for you?

That would have been helpful if you have Illustrator 10, but I managed well enough. :-)

I have no problem with that, if you want it there. Once I have all the corrections made and unnecessary parts removed, I'll send it to you to do with as you wish.

The window frames are just a little thick for the space they're in, but it's not really noticeable unless you look closely. I may tweak them down by one paper thickness. The only problem I had was connecting those tiny tabs with my big fingers, so I may relocate the tabs as well.
