RE: MRC Designer-Discussion - Niceyard - 26.03.2011

Hey Mike, I'm extremely honoured to hear that this is Your only forum. Smile
But it's no problem. Perhaps You know some other modellers via e-mail. But if not - no problem, too. It was just an idea to get the attention of more people.
But I'm happy in any case.

I just worked another hour on the roof.
It is definitely better than the old one.
And while I work on the parts, that MRC stands next to me and I get more ideas for the rest of the model.

A few minutes ago I thought about a high mast at the front of the tower with sensors, weather station, and different antenas. That would give the model a lot more height and a bit of the look of a big ship.

Pretty much all the modelers with whom I'm in touch are either on Papermodels or here. :-)

Nice! I'd had some thoughts in that direction while playing with the little container transporters; they must have SOME means of communicating with one another, eh? Possibly lasers for line-of-sight and small parabolic dishes (self-aligning, of course!) for long range satellite comm?

Hmmm ... a nice pylon with an all-inclusive pod at the top would be simplest, i.e.: easiest to make out of paper. :-)

[split] Megaton Recycling Crawler (MRC) -----> Baubericht Hülle / building report hull - Mike Hungerford - 28.03.2011

Excellent! Quite a difference from this: http://forum.flyinggames.de/showthread.php?tid=128&pid=1040#pid1040

What is the round feature on the starboard half?

There is a white circle of 30 mm diameter where a radar antenna will be located.

Halt ein! Wenn Du weiter so bastelst wirst Du womöglich bald fertig!
Jedenfalls freue ich mich darauf damit zu spielen.

Slow down! If you go on like this you will complete it soon!
However, I look forward to play with it.

I think it is time to come to an end.
So I will finish the basic model within this month.

Perhaps there will be further upgrade sets somewhere in the future, but the model as shown should be available on the RPC in cologne on the 7. of may.

Of course, the MRC is well suited to a wide variety of mods and conversions, plus all the other vehicles and things to go along with it. It may never actually end. :-)

RE: MRC Designer-Discussion - Niceyard - 03.09.2011

At the moment I'm writing the building repoprt/instruction for the different MRC wheels.
